I found myself drawn to music at a young age loving to sing and dance. My earliest memories with music were of me as a “rock star”, in my room, singing my favourite songs. I eventually joined my elementary school choir and was given my first solo in grade five. With this love for music I auditioned for an arts high school, Mayfield Secondary, where I was accepted and studied voice. After completing the arts program, I continued my voice training through private lessons. I later auditioned and was accepted into the University of Windsor Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy and graduated in 2016. This 4-year degree included music theory and history classes as well as private voice instruction.
Throughout the years I have been a part of many choirs (gospel, women’s chamber and a jazz ensemble), and have done solo performances at fundraising galas, weddings, coffee shops and self driven concerts. I also had the privilege of performing in Guelph’s Little Theatre production of the Gondoliers as Tessa.
From my personal experience studying, taking private lessons and performing, I know how intense it can feel to learn something new and how vulnerable it is to share that with someone. I have experienced my own moments of self-doubt and fear, yet my love for music gives me perseverance to continue to learn and grow. I would love to walk with you in this process of finding your own creative courage.
